The border is based on the idea of re-using pieces of old windows when coloured glass was scarce. I have used bottle fragments, agate, old painted pieces, fused and etched pieces and pieces cast with imprints of leaves and pine cones.
This piece was almost entirely painted and silver stained. The only coloured glass is the red border and the amber corner roundels. The painting and staining took at least 3 firings in the kiln.
